Our book review this month is An Introduction to Bible Archaeology by Howard F. Vos. This little paperback is divided into ten short chapters of about a dozen pages each. A storm began to rage as Jesus Christ’s disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee. It was an excursion they had routinely made numerous times before; in fact, some of them were fishermen by trade. They knew exactly how to handle various weather conditions, yet, during this particular voyage, Scripture tells us that a dreadful “tempest” engulfed them with such ferocity; it caused panic. Even the seasoned fishermen aboard the ship, were no match for the tumultuous storm that overtook them (Matthew 8:23-24, NKJV). Incidentally, Webster’s Dictionary defines “tempest” as: a violent windstorm accompanied by heavy rain and possibly hail. Read more…

I want to be smarter than a cow.
Now, before I hear anyone exclaim, “Too late!” please let me hasten to explain. As many of you know, I enjoy finding and adding antique books to my library. Of course, this is for the purpose of reading those books, and every now and then I find a nugget in them that is truly worth the effort required by musty pages or brittle covers.
