- Tuesday: Our Ten-thirty Tuesdays Bible study will resume on June 23rd with a chronological view of the Old Testament!
- Wednesday: The Party Club meets at 6:30 pm! This fast-paced club with fun, food and games is for kids aged pre-school and up. Don’t think you’re a “kid” anymore? Grab the kids in your neighborhood and bring them along for the fun!
- Thursday: Our Thursday Night Toolkit Old Testament survey Bible study will resume on June 25th, meeting at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary.
Upcoming and Ongoing:
- As, once again, Elim has three young people giving their summer to Child Evangelism Fellowship as summer missionaries, the Elim Council of Elders has decided to collect a special offering to raise the money for this summer ministry. Thus, for six Sundays beginning May 24 and going through June, the church will endeavor to raise $4200. Please mark your gifts for this ministry as “CEF.” And check the bulletin board at the back of the sanctuary to see our progress.
- Summertime gives us so many opportunities for great times together. Coming up is our 4th of July picnic at Ingersoll Centennial Park. Bring your blanket or lawn chair, a game and a side dish to share. Meet there starting at 4:30 for the food and the games. Then stay for the fireworks! Sub sandwiches will be provided for $3 per person but you MUST RSVP to the church office by July 1st to be included in the sandwich!
From the Pastor’s Recent Reading:
When Joshua led his troops to Ai, they were defeated, not for want of courage, nor for want of wit, nor for want of armed men for the fight; they were put to the rout before their adversaries for no other reason than because Achan was in the camp, and had hidden in his tent the goodly Babylonish garment, and the wedge of gold. Think me not severe it I speak with indignation of any who have turned aside unto crooked paths, after standing high among the Lord’s people-from my soul I pity such, I bewail them in my inmost heart, but yet I for Christ’s sake, and his people’s sake, feel towards them concerning their iniquity as Joshua did when he spared not the sentence, but adjudged the offender to his doom. Even though confession was made, yet every true-hearted Israelite cast a stone at the man who had made Israel naked before her enemies, saying, “Why hast thou troubled us? The Lord shall trouble thee this day. ” The church must be purified and cleansed, for our Lord’s fan is in his hands, and he will thoroughly purge his floor. He who winks at sin becomes a partaker in it. God would have us pat away the unclean thing from the midst of us, lest we be utterly polluted, and become an abomination in his sight. —from SPOTS IN OUR FEASTS OF CHARITY by C. H. SPURGEON
