10:30 am — We continue to be encouraged by all the ways the Lord loves. This week, we’ll see how the Lord loves from Isaiah 48:14-16. Read through this portion of Scripture to prepare your heart and mind for the truths of God’s Word! !–more–>
During the Week:
Upcoming and Ongoing:
- Elim recently had the opportunity to bless a very enthusiastic sister in Christ as she left for the mission field in England. Her exuberant thanks blessed us in return. Now, we have the opportunity to show her continued love as she is spending her first Christmas away from home. Our missionary to bless is 24 years old, a native of Wisconsin, living in England, where she is training young people to serve the Lord in evangelism and discipleship. Some of her special interests are: horses, medieval things (knights, castles, etc.), baseball, chocolate, dogs and cats. As a special Christmas love gift, we want Elim to shower her with small, wrapped Christmas gifts. (Please, no homemade food items due to customs restrictions!) Please bring them to the church office or the specially designated area by December 13th. We’ll make sure that they get to her in time to help her celebrate our Savior’s birth!.
- Encouragers (those 60 and over) have a special mission in the body of our church— to encourage us all that walking in faith and serving in love are NOT age-related! This special group will meet for a lovely Soup and Sandwich Christmas Dinner on Sunday, December 13th, immediately after the morning worship service. If you plan to attend, please sign up on the special sheet on the back table in the sanctuary.
- We’re looking for volunteers to serve the Lord and the family at Elim! We are currently organizing the rotation schedules for those who volunteer to secure the building after our worship services and for those who help with snow removal. If you are interested in serving in these ways, please contact the church office or sign-up on the sign-up sheets on the back table in the sanctuary.
- If you are interested in being part of the rotation of men and women who help direct our congregation to their seats and assist those with special needs, please see the church office. We are organizing those loving volunteers for next year and want to make sure that YOU are included!
- There is a special place at Elim for those Serving Sisters who want to bless someone with a special gift or card. Please place these items on the piano in the Gathering Place. Please don’t leave gifts or cards on the back table in the sanctuary
From the Pastor’s Recent Reading:
“It is not profitable to sit around contemplating why God’s made me the way He’s made me or why He has chosen not to gift me as much as Pastor X or Christian Y. What is profitable is to discipline myself for the purpose of godliness. To strive to be a faithful prophet like Jeremiah. To preach the Word in season and out. To be a faithful workman who cuts the word straight each and every Sunday (2 Tim. 2:15). To understand and apply the weakness of power and the power of weakness paradox (2 Cor. 12)
I should not conclude this post without talking about the importance of humility. God will not share His glory with another. That is probably why in His plan of salvation He has chosen not to save many wise or mighty men (1 Cor. 1-2). Consider the words of God from Isaiah 66:2, ‘But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.’
In biblical preaching God is most interested in two things: faithfulness and humility.”

10:30 am — How does the Lord love? So far, we’ve seen how the Lord loves sovereignly, demonstrably, eternally and historically. This week, we’ll examine how the Lord loves from Psalm 146. Read through this psalm to prepare your heart and mind for the truths of God’s Word!

Last month’s “From the Pew” article focused on the fact that becoming a Christian and truly following Jesus Christ might cost you significantly—even to the extent of relinquishing unity with other family members. Or worse yet, you might even become their enemy. This is exactly what Jesus Christ exclaimed in Matthew 10:34-36. After one of Elim’s elders preached a second part to a sermon approximately a month ago, the Holy Spirit, through the elder’s powerful preaching, prompted me to write a second part to last month’s “From the Pew” article. I expect the world to be sinful. Any proper reading of God’s truth and any genuine theology will always lead us to an understanding that God’s assessment of sinners in Genesis 6:5 (the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually) continues to be accurate. However, I was caught off guard recently by an avenue of wickedness and persecution of the truth that I had not witnessed in days past. Read more…

The Serving Sisters of Elim met recently for their fall luncheon and The Big Reveal. Each woman learned who had been serving her in prayer and love for the past year. There were many surprises, along with getting to know new sisters in Christ. Here are some of the delightful faces of the Serving Sisters of Elim:
