On the Lord’s Day:
9:15 am — Sunday school classes for all ages: Classes for graded age groups meet to learn from the Scriptures. To see Sunday school classes, ages and meeting locations, click on the red “Ministries” button under the category “Pages” (to the right).
10:30 am — How does the Lord love? So far, we’ve seen how the Lord loves sovereignly, demonstrably, eternally and historically. This week, we’ll examine how the Lord loves from Psalm 146. Read through this psalm to prepare your heart and mind for the truths of God’s Word!
The men who serve our church on the Council of Elders will be meeting after the morning service. Please pray for these men who lead us in wisdom and truth.
During the Week:
- Tuesday, 10:30 am: The Ten-Thirty Tuesdays Bible study continues, meeting in the Fireside Room.
- Wednesday, 6:30 pm: Our Awana Clubs meet with games, activities and learning God’s Word! Be here to join in the fun!
- Thursday, 6:30 pm: The Thursday Night Toolkits Bible study surveying the Old Testament meets in the Sanctuary. This week we’ll survey the book of Amos and Obadiah.
- Saturday, 6:00 pm (please note special time!): Elim league bowling at Don Carter Lanes
Upcoming and Ongoing:
- We have the opportunity in November to put hands and feet to our praise as we serve dinner and do light clean-up at the Rockford Rescue Mission on Tuesday, November 17th at 5:45 pm. Please sign up on the sign-up sheet on the back table in the Sanctuary.
- We’re looking for volunteers to serve the Lord and the family at Elim! We are currently organizing the rotation schedules for those who volunteer to secure the building after our worship services and for those who help with snow removal. If you are interested in serving in these ways, please contact the church office or sign-up on the sign-up sheets on the back table in the sanctuary.
- At Elim, we share the joy of this Thanksgiving time with our annual Praise Service, held on Wednesday, November 25th at 6:30 pm. And an added bonus to our joint praise is the annual Pie Social. For this, we ask that each family bring a pie (or two) to share. If you can help out with serving pies or clean-up, please contact the church office.
- There is a special place at Elim for those Serving Sisters who want to bless someone with a special gift or card. Please place these items on the piano in the Gathering Place. Please don’t leave gifts or cards on the back table in the sanctuary

Even Turkeys Give Thanks!
From the Pastor’s Recent Reading:
“Wisely may we trust our Creator: justly may we expect to be happy in so doing. He who made heaven can make a heaven for us, and make us fit for heaven. He who made the earth can preserve us while we are on earth, and help us to make good use of it while we sojourn upon it. He who made the sea and all its mysteries can steer us across the pathless deeps of a troubled life, and make it a way for his redeemed to pass over. This God who still makes the world by keeping it in existence is assuredly able to keep us to his eternal kingdom and glory. The making of the worlds is the standing proof of the power and wisdom of that great God in whom we trust. It is our joy that he not only made heaven, but the sea; not only things which are bright and blessed, but things which are deep and dark. Concerning all our circumstances, we may say the Lord is there. In storms and hurricanes the Lord reigneth as truly as in that great calm which rules the firmament above.” — from The Treasury of David by C. H. Spurgeon
