  • 10:30 am — We’ll be blessed to hear the Word of the Lord as we resume our studies in the final chapters of Acts titled “The Church Around the World.” Read Acts 15:30-35 to prepare.
  • Join the Encouragers for an Afterglow Luncheon on Sunday, March 20th, immediately after the morning service. This lively over-60s group will meet at the Morning Glory Restaurant, 915 S. Alpine, for an order-off-the-menu lunch.
  • 3:45 pm: The Combined Choir will rehearse at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Serve with Sincerity of Heart

Along the way I have read of a pastor who was very fond of using brief, sentence sermons to make his sharpest points to others. Among the many things he is associated with is the way he used to say, “God has three sorts of professing servants in the world: some feel they are captives, and must serve Him from the position of cowering in fear; others see themselves as hirelings, and serve for the wages of heavenly reward; but the last and the true servants are God’s children, those who serve Him because they love.” This point is, indeed, sharpened to a fine edge and a good reminder that servanthood begins in the heart. Encouragement in Prophesying God’s Word

Encouraging fellow Christians by using God’s Word is an honorable thing. The satisfaction from helping a fellow believer is not only rewarding to the soul, but is a blessing from God. However, if you do not know the Word of God, it can prove a daunting task. Any Christian discernment, which can be applied to encouragement, stems from the Word of God. To rightly handle the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15), requires study, proper interpretation, boldness to proclaim, and great patience once it is administered. Let’s focus on proclaiming the Word for encouragement, which has extreme significance to our evangelism! This is achieved when we “prophesy” God’s Word. Read more…
