Special Note: Please join us tonight (Friday, 4/22) for the Combined Choir Concert and Good Friday Service at First Baptist Church of Freeport, at 7:00 pm. It was great at last night’s concert/service to see 4 different churches represented in proclaiming the truths of the Gospel in unity. May God be glorified as we sing His message of salvation in Jesus Christ.
On the Lord’s Day:
- 9:15 am — There will be no Sunday School today. We’ll begin our celebration of the Resurrection with a delicious Easter Breakfast served at the church building.
- 10:30 am — “He is Risen—He is Risen Indeed!” Join with saints from all over the world as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

- 10:30 am — The celebration of the Lord’s Table will be a central part of our worship on this Lord’s Day. In preparation, act on these words from 1 Corinthians 12: 28-29: Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.

Several years ago, Janet and I were given the privilege of staying in a cozy little retreat cottage outside of Galena, Illinois. The home was quiet, and it had neither television nor telephone. In fact, it did not even have a radio although a CD player was provided along with several beautiful and relaxing collections of instrumental hymns. Next to the peace and quiet of uninterrupted time together, the second biggest blessing in that cottage was the library! It was stocked with a couple hundred fine books by some of God’s gifts to His Church. And we certainly took advantage of the time to read a few of those jewels. Read more…

…Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:3; James 2:23). In other words, Abraham was granted salvation by faith through God’s graciousness. By faith, Abraham believed in the promises God had made to him, even though those promises seemed inconceivable! Many theologians believe Genesis 15:6 is the verse that identifies Abraham’s conversion. It is the same verse the Apostle Paul referenced to make his point, that all that is necessary to be considered “righteous” by God is belief in Him (Romans 4:3). As believers today, we can have that same attributed righteousness, if we exhibit belief in God’s Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1-2). I mention this as Genesis 15:1-6 was cited by brother Dallas Turner during a recent Scripture reading. And, it was also referenced by Pastor Pauley that same Sunday, when he exposited a profound sermon on trusting God! Read more…
