Valentine Dinner

On Friday, February 12th, several couples from Elim Baptist and First Baptist of Rockford met at a local restaurant for a wonderful evening of food and fellowship. We were blessed to share uplifting music, a devotion on godly communication, along with godly communion with brothers and sisters.

Busy Week at Elim

This has been a busy week at Elim! In addition to all the normal activities, the non-functioning side signs were removed, work was begun on the new Christmas banners, and repairs to the men’s room were underway. All done in a spirit of love for the work of the Lord!

Serving Sisters of Elim

The Serving Sisters of Elim met recently for their fall luncheon and The Big Reveal. Each woman learned who had been serving her in prayer and love for the past year. There were many surprises, along with getting to know new sisters in Christ. Here are some of the delightful faces of the Serving Sisters of Elim:

Learning God’s Word in Children’s Church & Sunday School

One of our moms recently sent some pictures of her daughter acting out what she’s been learning in Sunday school and Children’s Church. We’ve been teaching our 2-3 year olds about God’s Creation, and from Genesis 1:24, we learned that God made “creeping things.”God Made Creeping Things

You KNOW a child has heard and understood the Word when she is pretending to be a “creeping thing” all on her own! Pretending to be a Creeping Thing

Then, God’s Word gets reinforced in Children’s Church with hands-on crafts. What a great way for kids to learn the very truths of God!Look What I Made!

4th of July Picnic and Fireworks

The rain stopped late in the day, and the sky cleared up just in time for our 4th of July picnic at Ingersol Centennial Park! The kids had fun on the playground; the adults just enjoyed the fellowship of being together. And the food—oh, my! The time for games, learning how to juggle and watching the parade before the spectacular fireworks display. Another great holiday shared with brothers and sisters in Christ!

Summer Wedding Shower

We were delighted to be able to help a lovely couple as they become one flesh (and one household) in Christ. The bride and groom were both so very gracious, and the gifts received will help them on their way as they serve the Lord in the future.

Spring Cleaning at Elim

Thanks, Men!

Thanks, Men!

Recently, our deacon of facilities and his hard-working helper blessed us by cleaning out years of accumulated “stuff” in the church garage. They installed new electrical outlets, organized all our equipment, and made a safe, efficient storage and workplace. Thanks to these men who worked so hard so that we can enjoy a clean garage!

Children’s Church

During the sermon portion of our morning worship service, our littlest ones are led downstairs by enthusiastic volunteers to learn God’s Word in unusual ways. Here’s some scenes from a recent Children’s Church lesson. Don’t you wish you were a kid again?
