4th of July Picnic and Fireworks

The rain stopped late in the day, and the sky cleared up just in time for our 4th of July picnic at Ingersol Centennial Park! The kids had fun on the playground; the adults just enjoyed the fellowship of being together. And the food—oh, my! The time for games, learning how to juggle and watching the parade before the spectacular fireworks display. Another great holiday shared with brothers and sisters in Christ!

Summer Wedding Shower

We were delighted to be able to help a lovely couple as they become one flesh (and one household) in Christ. The bride and groom were both so very gracious, and the gifts received will help them on their way as they serve the Lord in the future.

Spring Cleaning at Elim

Thanks, Men!

Thanks, Men!

Recently, our deacon of facilities and his hard-working helper blessed us by cleaning out years of accumulated “stuff” in the church garage. They installed new electrical outlets, organized all our equipment, and made a safe, efficient storage and workplace. Thanks to these men who worked so hard so that we can enjoy a clean garage!

Children’s Church

During the sermon portion of our morning worship service, our littlest ones are led downstairs by enthusiastic volunteers to learn God’s Word in unusual ways. Here’s some scenes from a recent Children’s Church lesson. Don’t you wish you were a kid again?

Awana 2008-2009

Our Awana Clubs for boys and girls ages 3 thru high school have just ended for this year. What a terrific time, beginning in September 2008 with some new faces and closing in April with good friends!

The goal for our Awana clubbers is to become (better) disciples of our Savior and Lord! To that end, the kids learn God’s Word, memorizing passages of Scripture, so that the Holy Spirit can use the truths of God’s Word to guide their young lives. It’s a worthy goal, helped along by many willing volunteers. Thanks to all the parents, kids and Awana workers for their service to these precious little ones and to Christ!

To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever (1 Timothy 1:17).

A Visit from our Missionaries in the Philippines

We shared a wonderful time with some truly devoted servants of Christ over Labor Day weekend. Elim enjoyed a report from the field in Sunday school, a message from God’s eternal Word during the morning service, a delicious potluck picnic and softball tournament, followed by a Monday morning send-off breakfast. How glorious is the fellowship of the saints! Here are some scenes from that weekend visit:

Elim at the Rockford RiverHawks

On July 18th, Elim members went to see the Rockford RiverHawks play against the River City Rascals. In spite of a home team loss, we had a great time!
