Our book review this month is Improving Your Serve, by Dr. Charles Swindoll.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
Dr. Swindoll uses this verse as a contrast to what the world around us would lead us to believe. In our author’s typical satirical fashion, he comments that philosophers are people who talk about something they don’t understand, and then they make you think it’s your fault that you don’t understand them! Maybe you have been “keeping score” and maybe you have not, but over the past several months this column has been considering the topic of prayer as Jesus taught. And, in these brief exhortations we have found that we are called to pray with developed guards upon our hearts and minds. For instance, we learned that we are to pray with humility, for the Master commanded in Matthew 6:5, “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. According to the Savior, such people “have received their reward,” and so their prayers avail nothing. Read more…

- 9:15 am — Our annual Elim Easter Breakfast!! There’s still time to volunteer YOUR services, however. More help is always needed with clean-up. Contact the church office to volunteer. There will be NO Sunday school classes this day.
- 10:30 am — The strains of The Resurrection Hymn (See, What a Morning!) are already in our ears, preparing our hearts and our minds to celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior and Lord! His RESURRECTION is what gives us LIFE! Praise Him with us this Sunday.
